Android – Installation (Eclipse and JDK)

In this tutorial we will learn to install Eclipse IDE, JDK and configure Android SDK that will be required to develop any kind of Android Apps.

  • First of all we will install JDK in our system. The Eclipse that we will be using works on JDK 32 bit, so we will install 32 bit JDK in our system. You can download JDK from here. JDK is required to run Eclipse IDE in your system.
  • After downloading the file just click on the file and install the JDK in your system. Don’t change the installation path while installation, keep it as default.
  • Now we are assuming that you have successfully installed JDK in your system.
  • Now download the Android SDK and Eclipse IDE from here. After downloading extract the file using WinRar or WinZip.
  • After extracting the file you will get two folders name eclipse and sdk. Open the eclipse folder and double click on eclipse.exe file.
  • Set the default workspace. Here you have to give the path where you want to save your android projects.
  • Now when the eclipse gets loaded close all the windows if any windows prompts.
  • Our next step is to link our Android SDK to Eclipse. For this go to Window in eclipse and select Preferences.
  • Select Android in the left pane and give the location of the Android SDK in SDK Location box.
  • You have to give the path of the sdk folder which we have got after extracting the android.rar file.
  • Click Apply the OK.
  • Now we have successfully installed Eclipse IDE and configured Android SDK.
